Why do you run?

(Excerpt / inspired from a discussion with someone who loves dancing but can’t run because it is hard, painful, etc)

When you dance, you just dance and enjoy the flow, the music, the movement.

When you run, you think and expect something, you want result and, like most people, you are convinced that pain must be an ingredient in the equation.

Go find some beautiful forest trail, bring no watch, no gps, no iphone, no music, no expectation of time, performance, speed and just run, just dance in the forest.

That is how you learn to love running. This is the place to start.

Most people run for a reason, to get in shape, to lose weight and never really learn to enjoy the activity, it’s just a tool.

I’m sure you tell your clients to relax and stop thinking. Beginners think too much. You too when you run.

When you start something new, find what makes it beautiful and focus on that.

Enjoy and love everything that you do.

Life is short.

This advice applies not just to running.
