Home sweet home…

My schedule of the last month has been hectic… Mountain bike in Whistler, training in England, work in Puvirnituk. I have lived a lot and learned a lot but this very far from my objective to slow down… Some opportunities, those that come once in a decade, i just could not pass and i had to compromise and live at an accelerated pace for a few weeks. In the end, it will all be worth it.

I arrived home this morning. A beautiful sunny saturday morning full of colors. My son was waiting for me. He jumped in my arms to kiss me and so did my dog. My heart was filled with warmth. I love being home with my son.

We had a quiet saturday. Liam played during the morning while i unpacked. We had lunch at Tim Hortons. We ran with our dog at park Moussette on the side of the river. We did the grocery together. Liam helped me clean up our car by vacuuming the interior. Now he is quietly reading in our living room, the sun gently warming him, his dog by his side.  I prepared a small snack for him and brought it upstairs : a small glass of milk, cheese, grapes.

– Here son, i thought you would like this.

– Thank you dad… I love you.

– I love you too Liam.

As i am unpacking the grocery, listening to music, drinking a cup of green tea, i realize that being happy is exactly this: enjoying this moment together.

Tonight, we’ll prepare dinner together, i’ll grill the steak while Liam cuts potatoes and veggies to cook in the Actifry. Liam invited a friend and he will get to play video games. I will have some time to train in my basement.

We are home and happy.

And our happiness is found in the ordinary, quiet moments shared together.
