Some things in life cannot be thaught, they must be inspired. Gratitude might be one of them.
Recently, i have been thinking a lot about gratitude and self-compassion as the source of my resilience and happiness.
More than anything, a parent wants his child to grow to become a happy responsible adult.
I feel that happiness has more to do with how one appreciates life than how much success one has in the eyes of his peers.
But how do i inspire gratitude in a child?
I have decided to be a real example for my son.
I challenged myself to do a daily ritual for one month. It would illustrate the expression of gratitude in my life.
Every morning, in front of Liam, during breakfast preparation, i light a small candle and i say : “Today, i am grateful for …”
Well… two weeks into this challenge, after cooking with my son, preparing chocolate bread together, Liam takes a candle and he lits it saying out loud: “Today i am grateful to be in a family where i am taught a lot of things”.
I planted a seed and i’ll just let it grow…
On this cold winter afternoon, my heart is filled with warm feelings of love and gratitude.
Thank you.
