Think then share…

Publishing, the dissemination of information, used to be an act reserved to a very small number of people.

Publishing used to be act taken seriously by those performing it. The quality of the work published and the validity of the informations disseminated used to be the priorities of the authors.

Nowadays, anyone can publish. Anyone can share information that can potentially reach thousands of people.

It takes just one click “share” and it’s done.

The problem is that many of us publish stuff just because it’s cool, without really doing the work that used to be done.

The end result is: misinformation.

Today, i received a message from a good friend. It looked cool. It described a revolutionary new technology that could power the world, a water motor. I took the time to read it. I thought about it. How crazy is that idea? I researched it. My conclusion: that’s just fake news. I told my friend, a bit harshly and i am sorry about it but i did honestly. Don’t waste my time with fake news. If you are going to publish something, share it with the world, take the time to make sure to check that the quality and the validity of the information you are publishing.

If you publish false information, you are just contributing to the general misinformation movement in our society and this is how trends are started. You know the fake news trends like global warming is not happening or vaccines will kill you……

Thank you for thinking and reasoning before you click “share”. Thank you for checking the quality and the validity of the information you are publishing on the internet.

Being aware of this is the only way we can make sure that our society is growing on the most solid foundation possible: the truth.

Please share.
