The reconnection…

I have disconnected my phone from Facebook, i uninstalled the app. I have taken a Kindle unlimited membership to celebrate this moment.  From now on, when i read on my phone, i will read books and reliable sources of information and news.

There is a lot of good stuff on Facebook but there is also a lot of time to lose with fake news, advertising and mindless reading.  I will keep writing occasionally.  I will keep in touch with Facebook friends with my laptop, a few times per week, not every day.

I  want to concentrate on doing one thing at a time.

I want to read emails less often, just a few times per day instead of being always on.

I want to be be less connected to my phone and more connected to what i am doing, to others, to myself and to life.

Our nation as a whole suffers from attention deficit disorder. By being constantly interrupted by our electronic devices and the 673 daily notifications, we become less able to focus our attention on the one thing we are doing right now.

I want to get back the ability to focus deeply on something valuable for long periods of time. I want to get lost in my work or in a conversation with someone interesting or someone i love. These valuable moments are not found in the depth of my iphone, they are usually right in front of me.  I want to stop staring at my phone, stare in your eyes when i am with you… and really listen.

This is important.

If time is my most precious resource, then my attention is the most precious thing i can give you.

Thank you.
