The prime belief…

William James had a horrible childhood plagued with suffering and loss.

At the bottom of the barrel of despair, he decided that he would live a year believing that he was 100% responsible for what happened to him.

He became the father of psychology in one of the most influential philosopher of our time. When we become responsible for our own values we no longer have to struggle to make the world conform to our needs rather we can adapt our own values to fit the circumstances that confront us.

Taking responsibility for ourselves and our own values allows us to feel in control of everything that happens to us and allows us to transform our negative experiences and empowering experiences.

We don’t always control what happens to us. But we always control how we interpret and how we respond to what happens to us. Therefore whether we recognize it or not, we are always responsible for our experiences. We are always choosing their actions.
