There is a lot to learn from big companies embracing the “wellness mindset.”
Watch this great 3 min video: Stamps.com promoting positive business.
There is a lot of literature supporting the idea that happy employees make happy customers, which is good for the bottom line.
When we care about human beings’ needs and treat people with genuine respect, trust and engagement emerge. People want to be inspired and be part of a tribe.
Stamps.com is trying to create a positive workplace in many ways:
– Core values project with experiential application of company values
– Social media platform to engage employees with a sense of community
– Lunch and learn programs
– Stamps.com cares program encourages employees to do volunteer work
– One day a month sandwich-making for homeless people
– Company events to socialize promoting the idea that “Company that plays together stay together.”
Just watching this video makes me want to work there because it “just looks like work is fun.”
I wonder what would happen if we applied some of this in our healthcare system?
Pouring money on a problem might not be the only solution. Caring about people’s happiness might also help.
Thanks to BerkeleyX’s The Science of Happiness at Work program for inspiring me through excellent content and a great learning experience.
Thank you.
