Me and Daniel, we became friends about 32 years ago, in our early high school years at the College Saint-Alexandre. Back then, we used to get together and we went to lift weights at the Sportheque. Often, we would end the evening eating Harvey’s hamburgers at his home, talking about what life could be, hoping the future would bring great things.
Today, me and Daniel, we got together and we went biking in the Gatineau park for 2 hours. We came back and we prepared hamburgers on the grill. We ate together. We drank a few beers.
Nowadays, we still talk about what future life could be but we also smile yearningly as we look back and realize that nothing stops the flow of time on the river our existence. We feel lucky to enjoy a mostly good and meaningful life.
True friendship is just that for me.
Tonight, I understand this quote: “Good friends care for each other, close friends understand each other, but true friends stay forever beyond words, beyond distance and beyond time. “
